New year goals...

I have them. I just hope that I can keep them...:)

Do you ever do that? Make goals only to drop them by the middle of January? I'm determined to not do that this year. I'm determined to get back into writing.

2019 has been such a sucky year in a lot of ways, especially in the writing arena. Too much drama. Too many issues with publishers closing down. Writing has lost its magic and become too much work. I now have to find my own cover artist, find an editor, format. I have no idea how to format. None. I suck at it.

So...I haven't written in a while.

The stories are there, I've just lost the desire to write them down. I probably shouldn't say that. I haven't really lost the desire to write them down. I want to write them down, I just hate the thought of the work that comes after that. I want to go back to the days where all I do is write and let someone else handle the actual work part...:)

But this year I'm determined to change that. I want to continue to write and I will. I'll get those stories down and hopefully, get them published.

That's my goal for 2020. To start writing again.

Updates and whatnots...

Now that Shot In The Dark is out, I'm working on the next book in the Mercenary series.

Mike and Carol's story.

It has a tentative release date of April 29th, so keep your fingers crossed I can hold to that schedule.

At the end of March I'll re-release an old title, Genie In A Bottle, but I've renamed it to The Genie. Cover artist is working on the cover as I write this and as soon as she's done I'll post it here.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Blurb:

The assignment was a simple one. Hide Danika. Brock even knew the perfect place. Unfortunately protecting Danika was far from simple.

First, there was her stubborn nature and smart mouth. Second, there was his attraction to her. And third, was the number of people out to get her.

From Turkish hit men to the C.I.A. everyone seems to want to get their hands on Danika.

What started as simple favor for her father turns into a fight to save the world, but Brock only has thoughts of saving Danika. He’ll risk his own life, even the life of his team, to save the woman who’s come to mean to world to him. Even if it means he only gets her back to hold her while the world implodes around them.

Road trip!!

My husband and I have been looking for a new camper for several weeks. I knew what floor plan I wanted. I also knew the length. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it in Tennessee. For some reason, in Tennessee, if you want 40 feet or bigger, you can find it. Anything smaller than that and it's a no go.

Apparently, Texas isn't the only state who has a saying of 'go big or go home'.

So, hubby and I had to travel all the way to Iowa and Cheyenne Camping Center to get the camper we wanted. A fabulous place by the way. I would highly recommend it if you want a camper. They even gave us a bottle of champagne..:) It's a shame we're not drinkers...lol

And they also do the walkaround in a heated warehouse. Which was perfect considering it was 18 degrees up there the day we picked it up.

The camper we were looking for was a 35 foot, super lite 5th wheel with a rear den. This is what a rear den looks like.

The reason I wanted a rear den was for one, it would seat six comfortably, but it also has opposing slides and sofas. We have two grown kids that still like to go with us and are too big for bunks, so the opposing sofas are perfect. They both make a bed, so they each have their own.

The drive home went well. We stopped halfway and camped in a Walmart parking lot. My first time to do that and other than the traffic noise, it wasn't too bad.

After getting it home, our biggest challenge was getting into the pole barn, which is where it will sleep when it's not on the road...:)

Do you know what happens when you put a camper in a pole barn with inches to spare and then hit the leveling jacks so it's level while it sits?

Massive panic!!

As the auto jacks leveled, they lifted the camper, forcing the vent cover between two rafters. It missed hitting those rafters by a half inch. We know because my brother climbed onto of the camper and crawled through the rafters to make sure there hadn't been any damage...lol

Talk about a close call! From now on, it will just sit in there unlevel. It'll be fine.

Phew! Can't wait for our first camping trip!!

New release....sort of.

It's taken me over a year to get all my EC and Loose Id books re-released. Now i'm working on my Liquid Silver books. The first to be re-released is a book titled, It's Only Physical.

Here's the new cover. Isn't it hot?? :)

It's Only Physical will release at the end of January.

One month after that, A Shot in the Dark will release at the end of February.

A Shot in the Dark is the next book in the Mercenary series. It's also a crossover and will included a very sexy character from the Crime and Punishment series, Master Delacroix...:)

I still have ten more books from Liquid Silver to release, but I'll scatter them in with new releases that I plan on putting out this year, which will include Mike and Carol's story from the Mercenary series, a new menage from the Entwined Fates series, and an interesting mixture of horror and erotic that I've been working on called Dark Desires.

I'm hoping to make 2019 a much more productive year. Keep your fingers crossed I can keep up..:)

I passed!!

I passed my real estate test! Yay! Now I can relax for a bit and get back into writing while I wait for my license to get approved by the real estate commission.

I have so many ideas! Once I stopped writing for a bit to study, all kinds or scenarios played through my head. Which is great!! I'm going to finish up the cross-over and then I have a really cool idea for Aspen's story from the Entwined Fates series and then of course I need to do Mike and Carol's story as well.

Lots of writing to do!! Guess I better get at it..:)

Sweetest news

I'm working on a new book called Sweetest Sin. It will be a crossover book that will combine both the Mercenary series and the Crime and Punishment series by returning to Atlanta and Nathan Delacroix's BDSM club.

I'm hoping to have it out later this spring. Hoping...lol. We all know how life gets in the way. Seems like life gets in my way more often than not, but I'm determined to keep the fire burning. Which is probably a good thing considering how cold it is here..:)

Stay warm everyone..:)

Updates and what not...

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I am still here and still trudging away on stories. Or at least trying to. We all know how life gets in the way of things more often than we would like.

I'm still working on getting older stories re-covered and back out after getting the rights back to them. It's a longer process than I realized when I initially started this and definitely more expensive. Covers aren't cheap and I had 27 that needed to be redone. I'm halfway through.

On the new story front, I've started working...again...on The Master's Den. This has been a tough one for some reason. There was one sticking point in the whole story that was holding me up and I think I finally cracked it yesterday, so i'm hoping it should go quickly from here on out. After that one is the next book in the Crime and Punishment series, another book in the Mercenary series, and yet another in the Entwined Fates series...:)

I think I could keep Entwined Fates going for quite some time. I just love that world. It's the first world I created as a writer and I just can't seem to let it go..:)

Since I'm getting the rights back to the Crime and Punishment series, I'll be recovering all of them. I'll post the new covers here as soon as I get them, so keep checking back and I promise to post more often, even if it's just nonsense stuff...:)

Have a great weekend!

Re-releases!!

I've got a ton of them..lol

Starting March I'll begin re-releasing my Ellora's Cave titles starting with the Fantasy series.

Fantasy Bar
Fantasy Resort
Fantasy Seduction

Seduction is already out, but Bar and Resort will both release in March. After that will come Two For Tessa, which is the new romantic suspense, either at the end of March or first week of April.

Over the next two years I'll be releasing at least one book a month. Some new, some previously published. So it's going to be a busy time at my house. I just hope I can keep up with the schedule I've set up...lol

Review for Dominating Miya..:)

Dominating Miya

by Trista Ann Michaels

Publisher Blurb

Alex believes his world of BDSM sex would scare the hell out of Miya, not to mention she’s his best friend’s baby sister. Miya believes otherwise and shows up at his sex club to prove him wrong. Determined to prove himself right, Alex will use every toy and trick at his disposal, and then some. When he realizes just how perfect they are for each other, he'll also realize he may have gone too far.

Review

Convincing a stubborn man that she can be the submissive he needs is a tall order but Miya is determined to show Alex they fit. But what if they don’t? We return to Trista Ann Michaels’sci-fi world in Dominating Miya. The children of the characters we came to love in her Entwined Fates series are taking their turn fighting for a forever love. With Miya, Ms. Michaels gives us a strong female character who loves a Dom. She isn’t sure she can let go of enough control to truly submit but she wants the chance to try. Alex has found safety within his friendship with her brother and father and he is equally determined not to allow his feelings for Miya destroy that; two strong characters on a collision with love, who will win? I loved seeing Miya come into her own even as Alex fought her. She questioned her needs and her ability to hand over control to Alex even as she dealt with a situation in which she had no control. The dichotomy between the two was an interesting to say the least. And poor Alex sometimes didn’t know whether he was coming or going. He has feelings for Miya but she is his best friends little sister. How does he look past their connection? I thought Ms. Michaels does a wonderful job of layering their competing feelings even as she races toward a resolution. This story was fast paced and well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to more from this author.

Ellora's Cave waiver...

Why I signed.

I'm sure everyone has heard about the letter EC sent out and the waiver that was attached. For those that haven't seen it, I posted it below...

Ellora’s Cave Publishing: Final Announcement – October 3, 2016
My mom and I would like to thank the vast majority of you for 16 incredible years. The first ≈ 13 of them were life-changing and genre-changing for all of us. We made history together, which is a feat most people will never be able to lay claim to. I’m honored and proud to have been a part of this heady accomplishment—a victory for female sexual autonomy that no one can take away from us. For this reason and so many others, it is with a heavy heart that my mother and I have made the decision to begin the process of closing Ellora’s Cave Publishing.
We did everything we could possibly do to turn things around—my mom more so than anyone—but it simply wasn’t meant to be. Between the oversaturation of erotic romance titles available, the financial devaluation of said titles, and being buried in Amazon’s search engines, the prospect of the market once again turning in our favor is grim at best, impossible at worst, and requires government intervention either way. We don’t want to leave you in limbo based on such unfavorable odds. We have gone around and around trying to figure out the least complicated way to get your rights back to you...the best compromise we have to offer follows on page 2.
My mom and I will be closing this chapter of our lives with many fond memories. For every utterance of false gossip hurled our way, we have three times as many happy moments to counter them with. In other words, thank you for being a part of Ellora’s Cave. We are choosing to hold onto the wonderful memories and carry them with us into whatever comes next. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with you and for you.
Warmly,
Tina and Patty

P.S. We realize our announcement, while likely not unexpected, still leaves everyone with questions concerning their books, especially rights reversions. Bear in mind when reading the remainder of this email that EC is now (a) down to a staff of 2 and (b) doesn’t have the people power to continue answering emails, which is why (c) we need a couple of months to accomplish closing down in the most efficient way possible. We don’t want to leave anyone’s rights in limbo—which could definitely happen if we don’t take the time to individually revert them back to you—so please read carefully from this point forward.
1

To expedite an otherwise lengthy process, Ellora’s Cave will revert the rights of all remaining books back to every author who agrees to the following six terms:
  1. You understand and agree you will receive your reversion letter on or before December 31, 2016 via the email address you return this signed release from. (For those moving their titles to New York, the reversion letter is all the proof you need that your rights are indeed exclusively yours again. Even if you do not plan to go the New York route, I highly suggest keeping your reversion letter accessible; self-publishing is still in its infancy so it’s difficult to guess what will be considered standard proof to vendors in the near or distant future.)
  2. You understand and agree all vendors will be given notice that your books are to be removed from their sites by midnight on December 31, 2016.
  3. You understand and agree you are free to republish your books beginning January 1, 2017 at 12:01 am EST.
  4. You understand and agree to waive any claim/s to outstanding royalty monies owed.
  5. You understand and agree you are permitted to keep the cover art to your books if you choose to, but that you are solely responsible for “stripping” the Ellora’s Cave name and logo/s from the artwork before uploading it to retailers.
  6. You understand and agree that ISBNs are publisher-specific and therefore cannot and will not be transferred to you. (You currently don’t need an ISBN to self-publish through Amazon and New York houses provide their own ISBNs.)
Your Pen Name: _________________________ Your Legal Name: ________________________________
Your Signature: ______________________________________ Today’s Date: ______________________
List of all Titles: ________________________________________________________________________
Please email this completed form to: Ecrevertrights@gmail.com no later than November 1, 2016 in order to have your title/s included in the master list we are creating for each vendor, which notifies them of all books to be taken down from their sites by midnight on December 31, 2016. The proof of rights reversion letter legally required to republish is separate and will be processed in the order they are received, but will arrive via email no later than December 31, 2016.

**

Understandably, most everyone was angry, including myself.

When I was first published with EC well over ten years ago, I was so excited. And over the next couple of years, I gave them several books. 7 in total. It wasn't long after that, probably around 2010, that I started having issues with royalties.

At first it was just me and a very few others who said anything publicly. Surely I wasn't the only one who saw the problems, but if any others were having issues, they weren't talking, except for a tiny few.

Finally, a couple of years ago, more authors began to talk, blogs were written, then the lawsuit against Dear Author happened and everything exploded. We all know what happened next.

I'd been trying for a while to get my rights back, but they always refused. They claimed I sold too many copies, but yet wouldn't pay me. I kept hitting them with emails, and yes, I got nasty. She even posted them on her bullying site, which I think now has been taken down. There's no love loss there between me, Jaid and Patty. I think I've made it pretty clear what I think of them and their business tactics.

I even went with several other authors to see a lawyer. We were told that EC was in breach of contract, not on just one issue, but three. We had a case, unfortunately, we didn't have the money. Six figures was the estimate. We talked about a possible class action, but there just wasn't enough money there for the lawyers to waste their time, not to mention they assumed they would probably never see a dime of it, so our case was not taken on. Once again, EC would get away with their thievery.

I had pretty much given up and could only hope that they would eventually close their doors. Then the waiver arrived.

At first, I was angry. Seriously? They want me to waive my royalties?? Tell me again how you're not a thief, Jaid?

After thinking about it and talking about with my husband, I decided to go ahead and sign the waiver. In truth, I would never see the money that's owed to me anyway and at least this way, I can finally get my books back and early this morning, I received the rights reversion letter in my email.

I will have the rights back to all my books as of January 1st, 2017, but I will not see a dime of any sales between now and the time they take them down. But you know what? As mad as that makes me, I continue to tell myself that it's almost over.

I will re-cover, re-edit those books and starting January 2nd, I will begin self-publishing them on Amazon, not all at once, but as I get them done. I should have them all out by summer 2017.

Even though I had to give up my royalties, I can at least see a light at the end of the tunnel and I can only hope that eventually, Karma will rule.

<<hugs>>

RWA...The Rita's

The Rita's is the highlight of the RWA conference. Lisa Kleypas was the MC for the night and she did a fabulous job.

It was a night of fancy dresses and fabulous acceptance speeches and this year, they even did a romance story especially for the Rita's that was read aloud by a variety of best selling authors.

That was actually a hoot...lol

Can't wait for the one at Disney in 2017...:)

RWA 2015 - day 4

It's Thursday and I'm already exhausted. There have been so many wonderful workshops and book signings, and oh my god, the books. I shipped home 3 boxes, over 100 lbs of books. And we still have tomorrow to go.

I've never been to a conference that gives away this many books. It's insane. I won't want for anything to read for quite some time.

This morning was keynote speaker Julia Quinn. It was a fabulous speech, and she's actually quite funny. It's weird when you hear an author that you like speak, and then go read her books, you can really tell how her personality comes out in her writing. Or he, if the author you like is a man..:)

I didn't get any pictures today...I know, that was bad of me, so I'm posting this really cool shot of the New York skyline from South side of Central Park.

I hope to get more pics of the conference tomorrow, especially since tomorrow is the Rita Dinner..:) I can't miss the opportunity to get pictures of the authors all glamed up..:)

Enjoy your night..:)
